Hello Stan and Jason,

A great podcast!!! I am thrilled the two of you addressed the issue of networking before you need a candidate and/or a recruiter. Building the relationship first (before a need arises) is the key. I am also hopeful many will listen and finally grasp the concept of what a recruiter does; find a person for a job, not a job for a person. I am always amazed at the number of people who still don’t understand that.

Jason, you really hit it on the profiles and the need to flesh them out and make them readable. I wish you the best success with the book. Many will benefit from it.

Thanks guys.

Stan, this was a great opportunity. When I got on the podcast I had one goal: to touch one person. I can tell from these comments that, between the two of us, we were able to do that!

Thanks to all those who have listened, and I'm very pleased that this caused many to think or rethink their LI approach. And anyone coming over to JibberJobber, welcome!

Stan, I am inspired to manage my profile more effectively in Linked In after listening to your conversation with Jason. It is good to hear your philosophy about building relationships with people and the importance of it, particularly as a recruiter. To me powerful networking is about the quality of your connections and not the quantity.

Greetings... what good timing! I won Jason's book as a raffle prize last week at a LinkedIn F2F Networking Event. Very interesting book! Re your podcast... I am more of a coffee person, because eating lunch and having a biz chat don't let me 100% focus on the person nor the lunch. With a cup of coffee or tea, I zoom in on the conversation as there is no food to gulp down.

Hi Stan and Jason,

Really enjoyed this broadcast. I'd developed a little Access database which aided me in keeping track of my employment history. As a self-employed working woman -- I worked at various contracts while balancing my personal responsibilities. Although my database has served me well -- I'm so thankful that The Connections Show has just introduced me to a more optimium way of managing my career.

Great listening to the two of you banter back and forth on this podcast -- very delightful. So, guess what I'll be working on next week? Moving my database of informtion over to jibber jobber.com.

Thank-you, gentlemen! God Bless.

Stan,

This is the first time I have listened to your podcast, but I must say I was impressed. I was recommended to read Jason Alba's book, "I'm on LinkedIn, Now What?", and have found it very helpful. I also signed up for both his blog and for Jibber Jobber after reading it! Hearing the two of you discuss it, however, helped to bring up a few points that I had overlooked. I'm now going to use them, and hopefully jumpstart my job search.

Thanks again for what you do, and for making this podcast available!

Another great show! I only discovered The Connections Show in late December and am working my way through the backlog. There's gold in every episode.

As a small business owner and consultant, I'm finding a lot of the advice on the show is incredibly relevant and helps me to build skills and confidence in my networking ability - as I'm not a natural networker it's hugely valuable.

Thanks!

Loved hearing about the gaffes in people's applications. I get that also in my industry. My favourite pet hate (if there is such a thing) is a prospective VA who sends me an e-mail enquiring about joining my team, but the e-mail reads like a text message from a mobile phone.

Hi, Stan-

Great post and insight. As I'm sure others are, I'm often asked by some of my peers who are new to LinkedIn for some good advice on "what's next?" once they get involved, and this is another great resource I can point them to.

Thanks.

Stan & Jason, nicely done! I’m a lifetime Jibber Jobber user, fan of Stan’s podcasts - and completely appreciate the collaboration to discuss changes and changing tools emerging in the job seeking market as it relates to networking.

What comes off as an informal, friendly conversation was actually loaded with priceless inside knowledge highlighting the re-evolution of the market and helping job seekers (like me) to get ahead of the curve and be more successful. Thanks for sharing!

Hi Stan and Jason

Interesting discussion. I'm relatively new to LinkedIn (only signed up last September), but I have become an evangelist. I am not in job search, which at first seemed to be the main purpose of LinkedIn. But then I got connected with Ajay Jain and read his white paper on how to use LinkedIn and realized the value of Q & A. Through active use of Q & A I have made great contacts, both personal and business wise.

As a branding consultant, personal branding is of great interest to me and it was a very good point about the Job Search vs. Career Management. Used correctly, LinkedIn is a very powerful tool for personal branding - whether you are actively looking for a job or not.

Thanks for the show. I'll give you a digg as well :)

Cheers

G'day Stan

As always I enjoy listening to your podcast. I am at the "I'm on LinkedIn, now what?" stage and I got some tips from Jason. I'm not sure if I need or want to read a book to get into LinkedIn but I am going to keep it up. I like the Questions & Answers the best, so far.

I've been busy interviewing people on my podcast "Erk Pod" http://www.erkpod.com.au - it has been a great couple of weeks (and busy) so I have not been on the site. I am now looking at some questions now, however.

Great episode Stan! Jason Alba was an excellent guest.

As you said, the importance of spell-check cannot be overstated on your LinkedIn profile, resume and anything else that will reach others.

I also like the way Jason talked about Jibber Jobber being akin to a Recruiter's Applicant Tracking System. Its definitely the right thing to do to manage your recruitment contacts, stay in touch once in a while and organize where and when you have applied to a position.

If I may, I would like to also state the importance of targeted resumes and cover letters. I actually received a cover letter that had been photocopied with the name of a Recruiter and company crossed out and my name and company written in pen next to it. It did make me look at it twice. but not for the reason the applicant would expect! We all have stories and that example might seem exaggerated however it is true and I hope makes a good point.

Stan,

I know Jason and am a Jibber Jobber evangelist. Great job getting Jason to be a part of your show!

My favorite three parts of the conversation were:

1. Learning about the concept of "job search" vs. "career management."

2. Alter your expectations about LinkediIn and start using it to build friendships...you'll be surprised at what happens!

3. Flesh out your profile-it's about being found. Empty profiles serve no one.

Thanks, Stan, and keep up the great work!
