Stan, The interview with Symantec on Web Security was very timely, particularly with the number of invitations to join so many public networks and forums.
Date of Birth, mothers maiden name etc are used by all Lending Intitutions fot Identity and if on public forums will soon become useless as a means of identity for phone and internet banking.

Yep, great show, indeed.
Bank Industry threat points (especially Consumer Credit ones) are specially important for me as having many fraud point visible every day!
Actually many additional interfaces are required to minimize possibility of fraud (blacklists check, Credit History checks from several credit bureaus, Hunter…). Plus manual check of credit analysts team … And new regularily updated encoding soft for Visa/Mastercard interfaces…
That’s right, security frauds are a big headache of Russian business, but stakes are high so many investors doing big bucks here.
Luckily I did not missed that one…

As always a very timely and much needed informational podcast. The information these sites ask for is always such an issue for me. That is one of many reasons I will not join these other sites. I think people really need to assess their activities more closely and this podcast confirms that.

Great show!
My concern with LinkedIn is that with your full resume and photograph displayed, enough information is being provided for someone to “hijack” your identity. If they could then obtain your SS# and DOB along with what you are already displaying, it’s pretty scary what might happen….
Freeze your credit reports, subscribe to credit bureau email alerts, and obtain RSA tokens for bank accounts when available. Have your credit card companies send email alerts when activity passes a certain level.

Everyone should listen carefully to this show. Symantec is a great company keeping many of us safe on the Internet. Craig gives some sound advice on how to protect yourself in social networking. Also, Craig shares how LinkedIn as a social network has been beneficial to his business.
The Internet Security folks will really like the last part where he talks about the bots and geographic dispersion and mobility of hackers and their malicious code.

Nice explanation regarding online security and the value individuals/organizations should place on their information. Also, believe that education arms individuals with the knowledge to make informed and accurate choices when sharing information. Never thought of the threat regarding digital picture frames or similar devices – will pay closer attention. Thanks!
