Connections #041 – Blocking the Hacker Attacks
Raimund Genes is CTO, Anti-Malware at leading Internet Security vendor, Trend Micro, based at their European headquarters in Munich, Germany.
As a result of meeting Raimund at the 2008 Gartner Security Summit held in Sydney, Australia, I invited him to appear on the show to expand on one of the themes that’s emerging as a matter of concern to all users of the World Wide Web – Internet Security.
While the full extent of Malware threats is hard to quanity, what IS clear is that cybercrime is Big Business – with underground operators now making even more money than international illegal drug cartels!
And although highly-publicized virus outbreaks (like Slammer of Melissa) now seem to be a thing of the past, this is only because today’s cybercriminals are motivated by profit instead of mischief-making – using silent, more stealthy forms of Malware to steal passwords and personal information from unsuspecting users.
In this interview, Raimund presents a number of strategies that users & corporations can use to combat these threats.

Excellent Podcast – and a very timely subject.
Credit Card fraud & Identity theft are major problems on the Internet today (and sadly ignored by many)
Thanks for highlighting this.
Keep up the good work.

Hi Stan, excellent podcast (as always!) but this surely opened our eyes for all the hidden dangers out on the net. I have several kinds of protection but realise we still have to be alert in everything we do on the internet. Thanks
