Connections #000 – Using LinkedIn as a Business Tool
Stan Relihan is a Recruiter & Headhunter in Sydney, Australia.
Although not strictly speaking an Episode of ‘The Connections Show’, it was this interview with Cameron Reilly on the G’Day World show (and the subsequent challenge Cameron set him) that became the catalyst for this show’s genesis.
If you’re interested in learning about how to use LinkedIn as a Business Tool (or just plain curious to find out about the show’s beginnings) – this is your chance.

Stan
Glad to have been reminded of this great podcast and I hope it gives others new to LinkedIn an opportunity to learn more about this incredible tool and how it can be of great business benefit.
When I stumbled upon this podcast late last year I have since expanded my network and use of tools like LinkedIn – and enjoyed the benefits.
I like the way Lee Lefever describes LinkedIn on his Commoncraft video too – “it’s not about managing your contacts – it’s about getting things done” and I would recommend your listeners check it out at http://commoncraft.com/linkedin
I am also intrigued by LinkedIn’s recent expansion to include some new tools, including various applications to further add value to our use of the service and how we can enjoy the business benefits it provides.
This podcast, “how it all began” remains an excellent introduction to LinkedIn so I thank you for the refresher, Stan.
Best regards,
Tony Hollingsworth

Wow. To hear the “low” numbers of connections compared to now it’s great to see how far you’ve come.
Loved the line at the beginning about “you gain more by sharing than hoarding”.
Great job. Thanks.

Hi Stan,
Yes, I agree with Gary – back then you only had 5,000 connections. Now, you’re a ‘super-LinkedIn’ individual!
Your show continues to be an inspiration. Thanks.

Stan
This was a great episode to listen to and I was amazed at how relevant your insights were even after a year.
Also, thanks for adopting the ‘pushcast’ technology that sends the show direct to my Blackberry. It’s easy to use and I don’t have to worry about missing any episodes – I love it!
Cheers, Iggy

I found you on LinkedIn and decided to visit your show ;) Wow, exciting, & very informative… I can’t wait to add your RSS feed to the company site I founded back in 1994 at URL: http://www.config.com to help make it easier for people to find you wishing to learn more about e-commerce and networking!
It is absolutely wonderful that you share your expertise and find others “qualified” to share theirs! This is the closest thing that I’ve found which I’d define as “Open Source radio”! You’re the best!
Best ‘net regards,
Joe

Thank you for responding to my invitation with an email introducing to your podcasts. I indicated in my personal response to your acceptance of my invitation that I am new to the Social Media marketing platform and a bit skeptical. However, I feel more confident that all the time and effort spent will lead to an influx of new opportunities and clients.

I came across this podcast by accident and loved the conversation between Stan and Cameron. Thats the thing about social media. To make a connection. Talking about a topic that I am interested in helped as well. Even though I have been using LinkedIn since early 2005, I feel like digging in again and connecting with more people. Thanks Stan. Maybe I can challange you some day with maximum number of connections? ;)
