What an excellent podcast this was Stan. Once again you have delivered, and I thank you and Andrew Walls for this.

As a parent working in the technology (software) industry, I found this podcast both extremely timely and insightful.

It is obvious that Andrew Walls from Gartner is an experienced, knowledgeable and highly articulate professional. In the space of about 20 minutes, he gave the listening audience some excellent takeaways around the role of "disruptive technologies" (a bit of a misnomer when taken out of context) in the corporate and personal worlds that we operate in. With one such "disruptive" technology being the rise of online communities like Facebook and LinkedIn, Mr Walls articulated in a very accessible way how these networks are being used personally and professionally by individuals, and the impact this is having on our professional and personal lives. I am an active participant in such networks, and find them to be of enormous personal and business benefit (hence my belief that disruptive, out of context, is a misnomer - in context Mr Walls is referring to these technologies disrupting the accepted way we do things in business and personal life) Listeners should consider carefully the wise words or Mr Walls especially around the concept of what might be considered a private conversation being conducted on these online communities, when in fact such conversations are very public, and once uploaded, are also out of the originator's control - forever.

As a parent, I am also interested in learning about the role these online communities are playing and will continue to play in my childrens'lives. Mr Walls provides a great introduction to some important issues in the use of these tools.

Best regards,
Tony Hollingsworth
